Overview

Flyover is seeking an experienced people-focused General Manager (GM) to lead our team and oversee operations in a dynamic, unionized setting. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business, including managing staff, setting strategic goals, implementing company policies, labor relations and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. The focus of this role includes directing daily operations, leading and developing the management team, managing the team in a unionized environment, overseeing budgets and financial performance, resolving escalated guest issues, and executing long-term growth strategies.

What is the compensation for this role?

The wage for this role is 105-110k CAD and a full breakdown of perks and benefits will be discussed during the interview process.

What will you do in this job?

  • Set clear objectives, develop and implement strategic growth plans aligned with the company’s vision and values.
  • Oversee all aspects of day to day operations, ensuring seamless efficiency and an exceptional guest experience.
  • Manage operations within a unionized environment, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and fostering positive labor relations
  • Oversee location profit and loss (P&L), develop annual budget plan and actively manage monthly forecast for operating expenses including labour and capital expenses; collaborate with the Finance Team to find and implement cost effective strategies; monitor business performance and optimize EBITDA margin.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations and vocational standards while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Provide updates to senior leadership, collaborate across departments, and establish long term partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Maintain high service standards to enhance guest  satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Team to grow attraction revenue and achieve established targets 
  • Represent the business at key industry and media events, and establish strategic business and stakeholder relationships within the local tourism and hospitality industry.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned 

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience preferably in themed entertainment, attractions, hospitality, or tourism experience
  • Proven experience managing in a unionized environment, including working collaboratively with union representatives and navigating collective bargaining agreements.
  • Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams in high-volume, fast-paced environments
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen; comfortable with budgeting and performance metrics
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems and operational tech platforms (knowledge of “Anchor” a plus)
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally to visit operations and
    facilities on occasion

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Must be able to move throughout the attraction, including climbing stairs, navigating backstage areas, and accessing elevated or confined spaces
• Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of items up to 40 lbs (e.g., equipment, supplies, promotional materials)
• Comfortable working in varying conditions including low lighting, loud environments, and around motion-based simulation equipment
• Manual dexterity to operate equipment, use handheld devices, and complete light administrative tasks
• Must be able to respond quickly and safely to emergency situations, including directing guests and assisting with evacuations if needed
